An Exercise Palette for the Non-Gymmer

I'm all for a variety. In food. In Fashion. In Exercise. Variety inspires me. Keeps me energized. Keeps me wanting to do more varieties of the same activity. I've never been the Gym-Kinda-Girl. I still want to exercise and stay fit. I like a variety of activities in my week to keep me fit and going. If this rings a bell in you, then read on ...

Lately I've come up with an activity set. Each day of the week is going to be a different exercise activity. And each activity is going to be from one of the things I love to do. And since they are all things I love to do, I think I'll stick with doing the regimen long term. How do I incorporate exercise as a way of everyday life, and hopefully forever? ... That's the goal, right ?

Monday : Fast walk in the neighborhood park . I love to do this, especially since there's greenery around. There's birds chirping. There's mist on the grass. Occasionally there's a duck or two. There's a good chance in the mornings to catch some good sunlight for a dose of Vitamin D. Then there are the fellow neighbors ... saying hellos to each other and walking the dogs.

Tuesday : Jogging and Stretching . I like to notch it up a little the next day, with a jog. There's the energy around you in the park, when you see other people jogging and sweating it. I'd like to tap some of that energy and do some sweating on my own. I'd also do a little bit of stretching before and after the jog.

Wednesday : I'm going to keep this an at-home exercise day. I like to tune into some energetic Bollywood music and dance to it. It's fun. It stretches some muscles. It's decent cardio, especially on those high-beat songs. It's art - so it appeals to me better than doing a strict aerobics regimen.

Thursday : I love to go biking. I bike on my favorite go-to trails in the neighborhood, where I know all the trail-gotchas. I'm also always on the lookout for other trail recommendations from other bikers. So my trails-list has been expanding. Occasionally I try a different trail or two and explore them.

Friday : It's experimentation day. I like to try a new or different exercise to see if I like it. Things that I've tried are jump roping, hula hooping ( Gosh, I just can't get this one , somehow ! ), tree climbing, kids bopping, . I do a little pinterest to get some more ideas for Friday exercise.

Saturday and Sunday : Since the weekends get super busy with the kids and doing activities with them, I like to start the weekend days with some Me-Time ( or rather the only Me-Time I get) . Yoga and meditation in the patio before the kids wake up. It gives me the calm and energy to get the weekend started right.

That's my list. I like my list. It's simple . It's doable. It's enjoyable. It doesn't have any Must-Do-or-Hell-Will-Break vibe. It's easy flowing. It's something I have stuck with the past few months and I think it will stay on hopefully for ever ( I mean the list staying on. The content will change according to what fancies me at that time of my life ) .
