The Individualistic Woman

When people ask me who I am or what I do, my answers have varied over time. Plenty times, it's context based. If the question happens at work, it's been "I'm the engineer who worked on something". If the question happens during a playdate, it's been "I'm the mom of the little girl over there". I've never really paid much attention to how I'd like to answer - really answer that question.
But it's a question that's asked to each and everyone of us, over and over again in many different times, places, scenarios. And I have a feeling that the question and the individual answers we give to the question are kind of unconsciously embedded in some corner of our brains, forming a cumulative realization of who we think we are. So, I ask myself aloud, "Who Am I? ".
I am a woman. I was a girl , a daughter, a student. Growing up in a place where girls are considered somewhat secondary and inferior to boys, my family was an outlier. My parents always encouraged to do my best in whatever I wanted to do and not let what's around me influence what I think of myself or what I become. Which is a great part of what I am today. And now I am a woman, an engineer, a mom , a wife, a daughter. And so much more. I am my own person, with a personality - an individualistic personality, a can-do personality, a girl-power-proud personality that goes with me wherever I go.
I believe every one of us has it in us to go and get what we'd like to do or become. We are go-getters and doers. We are trendsetters. We are cool teachers helping kids learn. We are kind nurses and doctors helping out our sick people. We are smart engineers who build things. We are driven assistants and supervisors to get the projects done. We are loving family-makers raising the next generation.
We are all queens, princesses, stars, divas in our own lives and in our own right. We are strong people. So, let's go on and wear our stilettos and tiaras! And while we are at it, wear them high!
